The Quantum Flagship, a one-billion euros EU-funded initiative to develop quantum technologies in Europe, will be launched on October 29 in Vienna.
Organised in collaboration with Austria’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Quantum Flagship Kickoff event will mark the launch of the Quantum Flagship and its first 20 projects. It will also promote the coordination of Quantum activities with EU countries and invite them to work out how they collaborate with and build on the activities of the Quantum Flagship.
The event will bring together academic experts in quantum technologies, policymakers and representatives of businesses seeking to develop products and services based on these technologies.
Registrations are free of charge and mandatory.
Register here before the October 26 (limited seats available)
This event will be organized in two distinct sessions:
- Morning session: devoted to project presentations and networking
141 project applied for funding in the first call for proposals that closed in February 2018. 20 projects, involving more than 500 researchers, have been selected to receive EUR 132 million of funding during the Flagship’s first phase. These projects will be in the areas of quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum metrology and sensing, and basic science.
- Afternoon session: will mark the official opening of the Quantum Flagship
Distinguished academic, industrial, and political leaders will talk about the role that quantum can play in Europe’s future and the potential of quantum technologies.
The Quantum Flagship aims to put Europe at the forefront of the second quantum revolution, bringing transformative advances to science, industry and society. The Flagship initiative is expected to turn Europe’s excellent research results in areas like quantum secure communication, quantum sensing and quantum simulation and computing into concrete technological opportunities that can be taken up by industry.
Please check the detailed agenda to have complete information on the titles of the presentations as well as the exact timing of the sessions.
On 30 October participants will take part in further working sessions. They will discuss the goals of the Flagship and set up specialised working groups.
